About us
George & Tina also competed nationally at the American Lindy Hop Championships in Stamford, Conn., and they formed local lindy hop dance teams that have won honors in regional competitions.
George was dubbed "Polka George" by Psychoboy because of his background in polka dancing. George is a former polka dance instructor and a six-time national polka champion with his former partner, Rosemarie Kramer. The two trained under nationally recognized polka instructors, Butch & Mary Kotowski.
George & Tina began teaching lindy hop in March, 2004, when Psychoboy asked them to take over his classes. They formed Lindy Hoppers Unlimited, LLC in 2005 to oversee their classes, workshops and other swing activities.
Tina left Lindy Hoppers Unlimited in Oct., 2006. George now heads Lindy Hoppers Unlimited and is assisted by two outstanding instructors: Katie Marks (a former performance partner and assistant instructor with Psychoboy) and Ilhye Yoon (a second-place winner in the 2005 Virginia State Open, advanced professional lindy hop open division). We specialize in Savoy-style lindy hop in the tradition of Harlem lindy legend, Frankie Manning.
See you on the dance floor!
George began dancing the lindy hop in April, 2003, when he signed up for lessons taught by John "Psychoboy" McCalla" in Westminster.
After dancing just six months, he won first place with Tina Foley in the Amateur Showcase Lindy Hop Division at the 2003 Virginia State Open and second place in the professional Atlantic Region Showcase Lindy Hop Division.
Training with Psychoboy, a former American Lindy Hop Champion, George & Tina went on to win numerous other titles, including first place in the 2005 advanced professional lindy hop open division.
